Hi,

Herpes is diagnosed through antibody detection test. Though RPR also detects antibodies, it is used for detecting antibodies against syphillis and not Herpes. Herpes antibody detection uses ELISA or immunofluresence technique.

In simple terms RPR is used as a screening tool of syphillis and not Herpes.
