Brief Answer:
Can you tell me more about your pain?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. The first thing to determine with pain with swallowing is where exactly it is happening. Do you have pain in the neck area, or is it further down in the chest? Does it happen right away when you swallow, or does it happen a few seconds after swallowing? Also, do you have pain when swallowing solids, liquids, or both? Has it been progressively getting worse, or does it come and go? Do you have regurgitation? Any heartburn? Any weight loss? How old are you?

Please let me know if you can answer these questions, and hopefully I can give a good idea of what the cause might be, and what further testing you might need.

Hi Doc,

The pain is in neck area, near down to XXXXXXX apple to the left side. yes it happens during swallowing but intermittently so Its not happening always, like may be it starts afterif I am eating certain kind of food I am jot sure. both solid and liquid and its not getting worse its normal pain like we feel throat pain in cough or allergy.

To be noted that pain is not consistent, like i am fine now but i dont know next it will start when i will eat or drink. I will monitor this thing that if its starting after having food or timing and let you know.
thanks

Brief Answer:
Please let me know

Detailed Answer:
Yes, please let me know how it progresses. Depending on your age, it might just be related to reflux esophagitis, which is caused by acid refluxing all the way to the throat, and may not cause any other symptoms. You could try taking an medication such as omeprazole for a month and see if that helps. If it keeps coming back or gets worse, the next step would probably be nasopharyngeal laryngoscopy, in which they use a small scope to go through your nose and look at your vocal cords and the area around them to see if there is a mass or any signs of irritation. Further evaluation would need to be done by an ENT doctor.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help any way I can.
