Question: I am getting ready for a hysterectomy. I am 60 years old. I have to stop using all NSAIDs and Tylenol a week before. My surgery is scheduled for May 15th. I take two Aleve in the morning because of my arthritis and very bad knees. I am trying to reduce the Aleve so I don't do it all at once. I only took one Aleve this morning and right now everything aches. This is not normal for days I take 2 Aleve. Is this some kind of withdrawal from the Aleve? Will this stop? I teach high school and really need to be at my best as my classes are 28 and 30 sophomores each. Please advise. Thank you

Hi,

Definitely Aleve would have with drawl pain after you cut it half usual effective dose. You still have good two week to figure out alternative pain control measures. I suggest to meet physical therapist who can help give alternative motion of joints that cause minimal pain while still at work. Other methods also include accupuncture, hot water tub bath which can partially help for few good hours at school.
But speak to local physical therapist n rehab specialist who can understand movements at school and give alternative.
