Why Would I Have Persistent Cough For 4 Weeks Which Started Of With A Sinus Virus?
Symptomatic medication.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
A dry cough sometimes follows after a viral upper respiratory infection. It's called a post viral cough. If you do not have any other associated complaints such as chest pain / breathing difficulty or if the cough is dry, then you may wait for some more time. Generally it will resolve in the due course of time.
However if the cough is severe and affecting your daily life or if you have any of the aforementioned symptoms, it would be worthwhile to see a doctor. Dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant is an effective medication. Alternatively few days of nebulization might be an useful option of treatment.
You mentioned you are on cough medication for the last 3 days. May I know what medication you are on.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Continue this cough medication.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Dextromethorphan with its cough suppressing action will benefit in this kind of situation. But it may take a few days to a week before you see some kind of relief. In the meanwhile, if cough is severe and disturbing you may consider seeking help from your doctor (nebulization with normal saline + bronchodilator).
As long as there is no chest pain, breathing difficulties and fever, I don't see any reasons for concern. But yes, this will take some more time to improve.
Hope I was able to satisfactorily address your concern. I'll be glad to assist you further if needed.

Not likely.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Unless there are other symptoms such as low grade fever, loss of appetite, weight loss and sputum with cough, I don't think you could be contagious.
Viral infection remains contagious during infection and a few days after recovery. Continue with cough syrup. Avoid further use of nasal contestant (afrin). If cough doesn't improve in the next 2 weeks, see your doctor for chest X-ray and other tests.
Hope this answered your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.
