Question: Need blood work, ordered an eGFR. I am not familiar with it. What exactly is he looking for?

eGFR means estimated glomerular filtration rate.
This is done to estimate the kidney function and to grade the severity of kidney disease.

By calculating eGFR we also know how much dose of a drug can be given in the setting of kidney disease.
