Question: I smoked a cigarette while on gabapentin and my feet are going crazy

Thank you for your question. After some research I was unable to locate any information on exacerbation of side effects while on gabapentin after smoking cigarettes. I do not believe that your "feet going crazy" have anything to do with that combination of drugs. Also, I do not exactly know what you MEAN by saying that your feet "are going crazy." Do you mean they are more painful, more numb, more tingly, more all the above, or something totally different.
It could be that you simply don't tolerate higher doses of gabapentin and in that case, I would suggest to talk with your PMD to discuss alternative medications for the gabapentin such as Lyrica, Nortriptyline, or Topiramate. All of those medications may make reasonable alternatives to gabapentin if you're not properly tolerating the first drug.
