Brief Answer:
Could be due to raynauds phenomenon

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
This could be due to raynauds phenomenon. However, considering your age, it's possible that this could be due to underlying hypertension superimposed with raynauds phenomenon.
So, to confirm, you should monitor your bp regularly for a week or two and if it's consistently below 140/90 then it suggests it was cold induced only. Continue to have precautions like regular exercises and avoiding excessive salt etc.
Also, if your previous readings were normal then it also suggests that it was due to raynauds phenomenon.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

More details on my event. I had CABG surgery after heart attack 2005, have been taking Lopressor 25mg BID ever since, condition has been good for fourteen years, keeping B/P 130s/60 until 6 month ago, when B/P started going 155 - 165 over 60. have been trying adding a second Med, am on my 3rd Rx now taking Lisinopril 10mg at first it was controlling O.K. but now , it's not lasting all day, will probably need to increase to 20mg.

When this event occurred in Dr's office I told him it was probably due to cold condition, and showed him my home reading over past few weeks, he said my readings are not credible and bring in my B/P machine so they can check it. Also he prescribed Clonidine .1mg as an emergency pill (which I took (1) at home) to be take if B/P exceeds 170 mm hg.

Research on internet confirmed that Reynaud's can increase Pulmonary Hypertension but did not answer my question about total B/P readings. Thank you for the Answer.

Brief Answer:
Cold can elevate systemic bp as well

Detailed Answer:
Okay..
Cold can elevate systemic bp as well by causing systemic vasospasm. Cause for elevated bp is multifactorial in you as you have baseline hypertension which was further elevated by vasospasm and may be associated anxiety. But such elevated bp is harmful even if it was caused by cold. So, you may clonidine SOS.
Medicines should be increased if your bp is staying persistently above 140 systolic. There is no harm in getting bp apparatus cross checked for accuracy.
