Brief Answer:
He probably just wants to rule out aneurysm.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

A palpable pulse in the abdominal region is not uncommon to find, and usually, it is simply the abdominal aorta that is palpable especially in slender individuals. In rare occasions it signifies an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Depending on its size - provided there is an aneurysm - you may be offered serial screening or surgical repair.
