Brief Answer: One injection may be enough. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thank you for using Healthcare Magic. The nerve block will be local anesthetic plus steroid. This will ease the pain and inflammation and should start working immediately. This type of treatment can be repeated every 4 months if necessary but you may find that one injection will be enough. If you find benefit the injections can be used for the long term management of the pain. Regards, dr K A Pottinger, MBChB FRCA.

Answered by Dr. Kerry Pottinger (13 hours later)
Brief Answer: Yes you may have testicular pain. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thank for the further question. Genitofemoral nerve pain presents as numbness and burning pain over the lower abdomen that radiates into the inner thigh and the bottom of the scrotum and possibly the testicle. The pain does not radiate below the knee. The pain is made worse by extension of the lumbar spine, which puts traction on the nerve. Patients suffering from genitofemoral nerve pain will often assume a bent-forward position. There may also be weakness in the lower abdominal wall muscles. I hope this is of help to you. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger
