What Would Make An Infant To Brush Their Genitals Against Some Surfaces Which Appears To Be Self-pleasure?

Question: About 2 months ago, my 11 month old granddaughter began grinding against her restraints while in high chair or baby carrier in a way that appeared to be self pleasuring. It can be fairly intense and for a considerable amount of time. She doesn’t have any rashes that would be causing an irritation or itch. We just want to rule out any other causes for this behavior other than masturbation.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
There is nothing to be worried about

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

It is a completely normal developmental behavior in infants to touch and explore their genital area. There is nothing to be worried unless she develops a rash, itching, fever, or excessive crying while urination.

Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further clarification.
