What Tests Should Be Done For PCOD?

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Jul 2014
Question: I am a chronic PCOD patient. I have been on hormonal medication like Diane 35 for nearly 2 decades ago. I have been warned about keeping my weight under check etc but other than that should I go through any hormonal tests periodically to know if everything is fine. I annually get done my CBC, blood sugar, lipid profile etc. Here I want to know only about other possible disorders due to PCOD and not about possibilities of conception. Kindly advise.

Brief Answer:
PCOS

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply

1. Hormonal profile is not required at this stage unless you are trying for pregnancy

2. I suggest you get lipid profile, fasting blood sugar done every 6 months.

3. Weight loss is single most important thing to prevent further complications like heart disease, diabetes and hypertension.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
