What Should Be Done After Accidental Injury To Head Of An Infant?

Question: i picked up my 8 month old baby and he hit the top of his head on light ficture cover (as it lies low) and soft spot has seemed sunk abit a maybe wided a little bit, he did not cry right away as i comforted him, he just ate and is acting normal.

The soft spot on his skull is the anterior fontanelle. I would not be concerned about it even if it looks wider. However, the alarming signs to look out for are:
* Vomiting
* Loss of consciousness
* Convulsions
* Incessant cry due to excessive headache

If the child is otherwise fine and does not have the above symptoms, you need not worry. But in case any of the above are seen, you will need to take the child to the ER and get a CT scan done.
