Brief Answer:
Please see detailed answer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic surgeon.
I have read your complaints with regard to knee pain increasing during exertion.
In my opinion the pain could be starting directly from knee and sometimes the pain starts from hip or spine and is maximally felt in the knee joint.
For pain starting directly from knee joint - pain killers like Ibuprofen or naproxen will be helpful along with local heat application and Quadriceps exercises( to be taught by a physiotherapist)

When the pain is originating from hip or spine , there is mostly some symptoms present like irregular back pain and difficulty in sitting . These can be mostly ruled our by detailed clinical examination by an orthopedic surgeon.
So I would suggest to take treatment for 7-10 days and if the pain persists then go for orthopedic consultation.
I hope to have been of help. Please feel free to ask any other question.

Brief Answer:
add muscle relaxants and MRI lower spine.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
This suggests pain is due to pressure on one of the nerves ,most likely from spine.

Then I would add muscle relaxant and spinal exercises.
Also I would recommend MRI of lower spine.
Thanks
