What Might Causes Painful Cramps, Spotting And An Upset Stomach A Few Months After Removing The Implanon Implant?

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Mar 2024
Question: I had an implanon implant for 2.5 years. I got it taken out March 6th. I got my period March 14th for 7 days, then again April 13th for 4 days and May 9th for 5 days. However, yesterday I started having fairly painful cramps and stomach was upset. I started having mild spotting that night. I took 3 at home pregnancy tests just to check and all 3 were positive. Today I still have some cramping and spotting. I'm not sure what this means or if it's serious enough I should go to immediate care or the ER, instead of waiting to make an appointment with my doctor. Due to it being the weekend and their office is closed.

Brief Answer:
Diagnosis needs to be confirmed

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Positive pregnancy test is confirmatory of pregnancy.
Spotting can be due to ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage or bleeding around the fetus (subchorionic hemorrhhage).
I will suggest you to consult the ER as an ultrasound is required to confirm the diagnosis.
Further management should be done accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
