What Is The Risk Of HIV In Non Penetrative Intercourse?

default
Posted on Fri, 5 Sep 2014
Question: Hi,

Hi,

I am really worried about one of my sex encounters. There was no penetration but following risky acts happened:

1. I fingered her vagina till she cum out. My finger had some skin below my nails peeling, which pained when i try to peel it more that means the wound is not completely dried. There was no blood apparently seen, but there might be be some dried blood inside some layers of peel.
2. She took my penis in her mouth for 2 minutes and tried to suck.
3. She sat over my penis which was horizontal at that time, She rubbed herself sitting on my horizontal penis 4 5 times. We both were nude, After 4 5 times I stopped her. I am worried there might be some of her semen coming out from her vagina and going to my urethra line although i didn't see that apparently, mean she didn't have this much fluid coming out that i could notice it apparently.

Assuming the girl is HIV+ what are the risk activities out of these three activities.

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Situation 2 is most risky but very low risk

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Discussing your query situation wise.

1. Since there is no cut on your finger and no risk of her vaginal fluid entering your system, the risk for transmission is nil.

2. In this situation there is risk of HIV infection but the risk is very low. It is the lowest risk of HIV transmission may be m less than one in 2500 exposures. You are almost safe in this situation also but not totally safe.

3. This situation is also safe for transmission of HIV as there has not been possible direct exchange of body fluids between both of you.

Please remember that apart from HIV there are other diseases which might be present in the woman like Herpes, Syphilis, Hepatitis B which have high transmission rates in the situations you have been.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Can you discuss, what do you mean by direct exchange of fluids. Can't her fluids travel through my urethra line inside me.
Besides, can't the peeled skin on my finger and possible blood inside some layer of this peeling provide the way to the infection.

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to enter your urethra by rubbing

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Direct exchange of fluids is what happens in complete penetrative sexual intercourse. The rubbing of parts does not practically imply exchange of fluids. It is difficult to imagine that the fluid from her vagina enters the urethra just by rubbing 4 to 5 times. I agree that her fluid can enter your urethra but that happens only when you ejaculate inside her.

Regarding the peeling of skin, the blood vessels in the area at nail bed are very small and not likely to cause transmission of HIV through it. If you had a deep cut in your finger and then inserted your finger into her vagina, there would have been risk of transmission.

However since you have received oral sex for 2 minutes, there is a very small risk of transmission and that is more than situation 1 and 3. However please do not get worried as maximum risk in HIV is through anal sex and then vaginal sex. Oral sex risk is the least less than 0.04 %.

Hope your query is answered.

Few last doubts:

1. How the situation of me ejaculating inside her different from she rubbing herself on me. In any case the fluid can trickle down to urethra. How will it differ if my penis is inside her and ejaculating. Can you answer this in details because i am really worried. I am going to marry in few weeks. and really worried about my life getting destroyed.
2. Do you think I can do away with the HIV test in these situations. I understand its always good to get tested but still if i don't do that will it be safe. I just want to understand is it not absolutely important to do that.
3. Third I have heard HIV is a difficult virus to transmit. Is it true and why.
4. Fourth I have felt some gas and stomach problems the next day since the encounter. It was not there before this. Can this be the symptom of HIV.

Please answer me in detail as I am really worried

Brief Answer:
Please find answers in details

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. While ejaculating inside, her fluid is collected in the vagina and does not have free space to spread so it can easily enter the urethra. While rubbing the fluid gets spread out so less chance of entering the urethra.

2. Under most circumstances you will not be infected. However since you are about to get married and for peace of mind, I suggest you get tested for HIV and STDs. These tests are done confidentially and you can get tested in most well known labs at New XXXXXXX

3. HIV virus, like most other viruses only infects some people due to various factors responsible for infection like sexual contact or blood transmission. Since there is no known cure for HIV, there is lot of awareness of the disease and people are afraid of it.

4. HIV will not cause stomach gas problems from next day after suspected infection.

Hope your query is answered.

Ok One more thing. I have also been facing cough issues since that day. and i read cough is actually one of the symptoms of HIV. Can it be the symptom for me as well

Besides from the same morning I am facing back pain.

Although I am convincing myself that this might be because I was lying nude whole night, so may be i caught a little cold, which resulted into back pain and cough, both the back pain and cough are not severe, I can say both are at slight level.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Cough because of sleeping without clothing

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

You will not get cough symptoms in HIV after one day. As you have said its more likely because you slept all night with no clothes on amd might be you got a cold. The back pain can be due to sleeping in bad posture.

Take care.

One last question. Sorry for repeated questions.

1. How soon can HIV symptoms appear. Its been 4 days now and I have cough, although now its improved almost upto 75%. Usually, how much time does it take for HIV symptoms to show up. I am asking for minimum time, that atleast how many days.

2. In the previous answer when you said that the fluid gets spread and unlikely go inside urethra. But what if some amount went inside even after spreading.
3. Is there some sufficient amount of fluid load required to infect a person which is why you assume that some amount in the point 2 wont have that much effect.
4. My penis was flaccid and hence horizontal under her vagina at that time. Is that favorable or unfavorable for me.
5. One last question. Is HIV really such a big epidemic that people cant even enjoy free sex in this world.

I promise i ll try not to ask anymore questions on this but i hope you understand my worries as its about life.

Brief Answer:
Answers in details given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. The virus takes a minimum of 21 days to appear in sufficient quantities to be detectable in the blood after infection. The symptoms can appear anytime after 3 months.

2. There is possibility of fluid having spread and entering but you see in practical situation it is very unlikely to happen.

3. There is no fluid load but viral load in the fluid which can increase chances of infection.

4. A flaccid penis is unfavorable for HIV transmission.

5. There are other diseases like Hepatitis B, Herpes and Syphilis which can even be transmitted by kissing acts therefore free sex is not good because of many diseases and not HIV alone and because there is no cure available for HIV it is a big issue.

Also just imagine, you are going to get married soon and if you have sex with an unknown woman and tomorrow she gets pregnant then you will also have to share social responsibility of being father to a child outside marriage. Please remember that prostitution is not legal in XXXXXXX and can put you in trouble.

Hope your query is answered.
