Question: What is the normal range of blood pressures taken with the cuff? What is considered high?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Idealy blood pressure should be less than 120 systolic and 80 diastolic. If between 80 and 90 diastolic and 120 and 140 systolic that is prehypertension and alarm to modify diet and lifestyle. Blood pressure more than 90 diastolic or 140 or more systolic means hypertension. More than 100 diastolic or 160 systolic should be treated as hypertensive emergency.

How ever confounding factors like recent exacerbation activity like walking stairs, running etc , should be avoided and all postures should be checked like sitting, standing , lying down at least three different occasions 24 hours apart each.
