Once the predisposing factor is obviated (aortic valve disorder), further adverse left ventricular remodeling will no longer take place.
As the management strategy of diastolic heart failure is similar to that of systolic heart failure (with diuretics taking an important place), when considering life expectancy, a more optimistic view is possible.
If left ventricular remodeling has not led to serious heart structure changes, then life expectancy is quite similar to other normal individuals.
A cardiac ultrasound would provide valuable information regarding the prognosis.
