What Is The Effect Of Increased Dosage Of Clonidine And Hydralazine?
Question: My Mom's Doctor increased her Hydralazine from 50mg to 100mg , which she takes morning and night! He also increased her clonidine from 2mg to 3mg, which she takes twice a day now, instead of 3x per day?
She says she isnt feeling well, and often times just falls asleep sitting watching TV?
What should she do?

I read our question and i understand your concern. Hydralazine can be increased upto 200 mg in a day in equal 4 divided doses. So can be clonidine provided the blood pressure control is not there. As your mum has a high blood pressure of 240 , i am afraid that is worrisome and increasing medication was the only option. They should have brought that down in emergency department as well with IV labetalol or any other hypertensive.
Now not feeling well at the age of 82 could mean many things and needs evaluation . Falling asleep watching TV is also not an alarming symptom and any old age person can sleep easily. The only thing right now you need to keep an eye on is her blood pressure and also her conscious level. If she loses it or start irrelevant talks, take her to doctor.
