Brief Answer:
Only in documented iodine deficiency.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

I read carefully your query and understand your concerns.

Actalin is a natural supplement that contains iodine apart other minerals and vitamins.Usually we don't encourage regular use of these supplements.
Iodine supplementation is necessary only if you have iodine deficiency (you are not taking enough iodine).
This supplementation is effective in preventing and treating only thyroid conditions that are due to iodine deficiency (Hipothyroidism due to iodine deficiency).

People take iodine through water ,foods ,iodized salt and ionized foods. These days iodine deficiency is rare because we take enough iodine through food and salt to provide a normal thyroid function.
So for a normal function of thyroid gland you need to get enough but not too much iodine.

Pregnant women or those who are planing to be pregnant may need to take iodine supplements because their need is increased.

You have to be very careful with this supplement because excessive iodine can trigger autoimmune thyroid disease and hypothyroidism.

If you use iodized salt and you are not in a low-salt diet (means you eat normal amounts of salt daily),eat meat ,dairy products and seafood regularly you don't need to take iodine supplements unless you have some very strong evidence that you are deficient.

Before using this supplement you may need to get evaluated your thyroid function including the measurement of FT3,FT4 and TSH.
You may run a more specific test that can measure iodine levels (the urinary excretion test).
If all these tests are normal ,I don't recommend Actalin for you.

Hope it is of help.
Let me know if you have other questions or doubts to clarify .I will be happy to assist you further.

Kind Regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati
