HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The ADA (American Diabetic Association) has certain criteria to diagnose diabetes and there are also goals for persons who are known to have diabetes to see if their diabetes is in good control

If a person is not known to have diabetes and is trying to find out if they are a diabetic then, diabetes is diagnosed if: (1) fasting (nothing to eat/drink for at least 8 hours) blood sugar is more than 126 mg/dl -

(2) 2 hours after a special drink that contains 75 g of sugar- blood sugar greater than 200 mg/dl

(3)random blood sugar (done at any time) greater than 200mg/dl if a person has clear symptoms of diabetes

(4)HbA1C of greater 6.5 %

IF A PERSON HAS DIABETES AND TRYING TO CONTROL IT:
(1)HbA1c less than 7%

(2)fasting blood sugar - 80 mg/dl to 130 mg/dl

(3) 2 hour blood sugar after starting a meal of less than 180 mg/dl

The above are according to the ADA guidelines.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
