What Harm Does Combination Of Xanax And Wine Cause?

default
Posted on Fri, 2 May 2014
Question: what are the dangers of having taken xanax in the a.m. and having a couple of glasses of wine latter on in the day? I am a 65 year old female in good health, just having some anxiety problems due to the death of a grandson. I am going out to dinner and wonder if the wine would be ok. I am prescribed one 2mg pil twice daily, but rarely take more than 1 a day and never on a daily basis. Still have not finished a prescription from 12/05/13. Only take when I just have a grief situation that completely overwhelms me. Thank you for your response....

Brief Answer: sedation Detailed Answer: HI, thanks for using healthcare magic Alcohol can have a sedative effect. The combination of both medications would increase this drowsiness. This is the main possible effect. If you are only having a small amount, no more than 2 glasses, then it may be ok. It would be best to make sure that, since the combination would cause increased fatigue, that you do not drive home. Other than this sedation there are no other concerns. I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
