Question: Hi,
I had Oral sex with out any precautions around 4 months before. HIV Elisa Test came negative which was done 3 months before. Yesterday, I got HIV WB done and report enclosed. I am unable to interpret the results mentioned in report. Can you please suggest whether report says negative ot positive. In either case, what should be my further course of action.

Brief Answer:
Do a Repeat HIV-ELISA test @ 6 mths post contact

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
As far as I could gauge..this report appears incomplete.
When one gets a WB (presume you are alluding to Western Blot), there is usually a colour coded graph like a litmus paper reaction that codes for the different viral proteins & has coloured bands depicted with a negative control to help you identify it. It is possible the report has come to you incomplete or there is a 'technical' error. Please do check with the concerned laboratory.
It does appear to suggest 'negative'.
It is not just the oral sexual exposure. What is important is the 'type' of exposure; homosexual/heterosexual; presence or absence of any oral abrasions/cuts in the mucous membranes at the point of contact etc.
In either case, I think you should wait for a further 2 months & at the end of 6 months, repeat the ELISA test. If this is negative (do use a different laboratory), then you could bury the issue & forget about it.
Good Luck & Godspeed!
