What Does This Sperm Analysis Report Indicate?
Question: Hi,
My recent sperm test is showing the impression as "Normozoospermia" and Abnormal forms is showing as 90% and normal as 10%. What does this mean?
I had a sperm test taken around a year back and then the results were nhormal as 90% and Abnormal as 10%. Is it possible that in an year time there could be such variation..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brief Answer:
No need to worry.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have checked the attached report and let me assure you that the report is good. You need not worry about the morphology. Anything greater than 4% normal is good. It is not a cause for concern. The primary concern is motility and that is good.
Stay relaxed. Feel free to write back in case of further queries.

Hi Sir,
Thank you so much for your response. It clearly made my day!
One last question though.. won't 90% abnormal forms means anything? will it vary from period to period? I was surprised to see the result exact opposite of last time.

Brief Answer:
Depends upon the stringency criteria
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. The variation in the results is not actually due to variability with time but rather due to variation in the stringency criteria. The degree of variation in morphology is not mentioned here. So, if you adapt more stringent criteria, what is apparently normal may count as abnormal on a closer look. In this way, what was shown as 90% normal could count as 90% abnormal simply by slightly raising the criteria for cut-off between normal and abnormal. [Else how do you think 4% would be the cut off for normal?]
Hope that explains.
