What Does This Scrotal Ultrasound Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Aug 2016
Question: Hi doc

I recently checked out for epididmitis and ultrasound was done.

In the ultrasound the urologist said that there was a slight hydrocele in the left testes.

He said this was a common finding and it normal to have some water in the testicle. He said the only concern is when there was a lot of fluid and I was discharged.

Can you give me your view is it normal to have some water in the testes left as he said it was slight. He discharged me and also my doctor wasn't even interested either.

There is still some discomfort as I kept examining my testicle last month. Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
Insignificant hydroceles are ignored.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist,i can understand your concern.

It's good you've done the scrotal ultrasound scan.

As per the scan report, there's a minimal hydrocele on left side.
That means, there's nothing to worry at all.

Hydrocele is a minimal fluid collection around the testis.
It's operated upon, only if the fluid collection is significant.
Usually,it's a painless collection of fluid and doesn't affect the testis.

If you pull up the testis,it will be painful.
So don't try to pull up the testis, off and on.

Hope your doubts are cleared.

All it says it that there's a slight hydrocele in the left testicle, patient has been advised that it may have been caused from the repeated examination.

At the moment i have discharged him but if it was to increase in size I would welcome him back at my clinic.

That's straight from the letter I have not got a scanner.

But it says I have discharged him!

He said it was similar to being kicked in a knee.

Also this is common in sports people who have taken a hit in that area etc.

Can you confirm if a slight hydrocele effects fertility?

Brief Answer:
Hydrocele has no effect on fertility.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

A hydrocele doesn't have any effect on fertility or sexual health.
Yes, sportspersons do have discomfort from hits or excessive groin movements.

You don't have to worry about it.
If there was a significant injury of the testis,it would've been seen clearly in scan.

Hope your doubts are cleared.
For an expert opinion,it's best to send the scan or report to me.

Wish you well.
