Question: I got my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago and just got the pathology report that says the final microscopic diagnosis is chronic cholecystitits with cholesterolosis and reactive lymph node. Then has the gross description of "a glistening pale green gallbladder measuring 6.5 x 2.3 x 1.3 cm. the lumen contains bile, with no calculi identified. The mucosa is velvety and dark green with scattered bright yellow petechial flecks. The wall measures 0.3 cm in average thickness. Representative sections are submitted in one cassette." Could you please explain all of this to me?

Brief Answer:
CHronic Inflammation Of Gallbladder

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Your report shows that your gall bladder was chronically inflamed and had excessive cholesterol ( cholesterolosis) and inflammation involved nodes nearby like any other inflammation.

Gross presentation of all gallbladder is same that is how it looks to a naked eye. There wasn't any stone in gall bladder . Wall thickness is normally between 2 to 9 mm so that of 3 mm in your case is also normal.

Mucosal signs are all of a chronic cholecystitis and there is nothing to worry about. You have got rid of gall bladder and there is nothing else you need to do. Just keep the diet small frequent meals and avoid too much fatty products, if feel discomfort or greasy stools add some oral bile salts pills available easily.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Brief Answer:
histopathological terms

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

These are histopathological terms used to explain the gallbladder mucosa. Bright yellow is due to cholesterol and patechia are small haemorrhagic spots indicating chronic cholecystitis which is labelled as probable diagnosis.

I hope it helps.
Take care
