Question: 81 year female,hospitalised for Fall - SDH and Fracture neck of femur.she is in coma now with GCS -4.please find attach docuemnts and confirm on what could be cause for coma in this case.

Prognosis is not good in this case

Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Head injury in this case is severe as evident by subdural hematoma and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Brain parenchyma injury is also associated in such cases.
Also there is evidence of infection which attributes to coma.
With low gcs of 4, Prognosis is not good and prolonged icu care may be required.

dear sir thank you for revert,is it a case of clearcut injury or is there any chance of any illness leading to coma.whether high sugar levels are associated with the current diagnosis

Hello,
High blood sugar and low sodium and urine infection contribute to coma.
Blood sugar control was poor for last 3 months as evident by raised hba1c.
diabetic ketoacidosis should be considered.
