1. There are small areas in the brain white matter which are showing bright signals on T2 and FLAIR sequences.
2. Usually such changes are mild and seen in the elderly people especially those who have diabetes and hypertension and also due to advancing age.
3. These might happen due to areas of reduced blood flow through small vessels in brain, small areas of nerve degeneration, narrowing or inflammation of blood vessel walls or from old infection which is healed at present.
4. It might be causing migraine headaches should you experience them.
5. Non specific changes means the exact cause of such appearance is not certain. Since the symptoms are not significant, there is no serious concern, However a repeat MRI might be necessary if your symptoms worsen.
6. Minimal mucosal thickening is seen within the paranasal sinuses is mild inflammation of sinus walls and is seen in cases like dust allergy.

I had a severe concussion in a car accident in 2008 - do concussions cause this? I have had memory loss and reduced cognitive ability mostly at the end of the day or when I'm tired.

2. Concussion injury usually heals in 3 to 6 months in most persons. If a person has more than one concussions then the recovery is slow.
3. The injury might have been at a microstructure level and that is the reason for your tiredness, memory and cognitive symptoms.

Would this MRI be able to tell if I had a current infection or cancer? I have a follow up with my doctor but I'm curious how telling these results are for future damage? Can I do anything to help prevent these with diet or vitamins?
