Question: Hello, I am 45 yrs old and have been having lower back pain for 6 weeks. My MD orderedan MRI and here are the ffindings. "The uterus is heterogeneous. Correlating with prior pelvic u/s, there are uterine leiomyomata. There are CSF intensity nodules in the adnexa measuring up to 2.7cm. These may represent ovarian follicles. Further evaluation in 6-12 weeks is suggested." What do these findings mean? Possible ovarian cancer? I had an endometrial ablation in 2012 and a history of ovarian cysts. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
no suggestions of ovarian cancer here

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

In this report there is no suggestion of ovarian cancer. There are benign follicles in ovaries, quite normal. Also there are leiomyoma in uterus, which are also benign.

Overall I don't see anything of concern in this report.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. I forgot to mention my hemoglibin dropped to 9.2, discovered during routine bloodwork, which also showed lower numbers in my hct, other correlating red blood results...discovered 3 months ago. Since that time I have been on 325mg iron sulfate 2x/day. My hemoglobin is now 12.5 and hct is normal. Would this have any correlation to a gynecological issue? My cycles are very light. I just wanted to be sure lw hemoglobin out of nowhere, combined with lower back pain, and these MRI results are not indicative of a gynecological cancer? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
still not indicative of gynecologic cancer

Detailed Answer:
The anemia was most likely due to iron deficiency and it has recovered. You didn't have any excess or abnormal bleeding.

Hence it doesn't change anything. Possibility of cancer is extremely low.
