Question: I had a HIV/STD test done by lab corp.. I don't understand the results fully at the end. Everything reads negative except this area.

HSV 1 IgG, Type Spec 37.70 High index 0.00 - 0.90 01
Negative <0.91
Equivocal 0.91 - 1.09
Positive >1.09
Note: Negative indicates no antibodies detected to
HSV-1. Equivocal may suggest early infection. If
clinically appropriate, retest at later date. Positive
indicates antibodies detected to HSV-1.
HSV 2 IgG, Type Spec 1.71 High index 0.00 - 0.90 01
Negative <0.91
Equivocal 0.91 - 1.09
Positive >1.09
Note: Negative indicates no antibodies detected to
HSV-2. Equivocal may suggest early infection. If
clinically appropriate, retest at later date. Positive
indicates antibodies detected to HSV-2.

Brief Answer:
These mean that you have been exposed to both Herpes 1 and Herpes 2

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM. I will clarify.
1. The HSV1 IgG shows that you had been exposed to Herpes virus type 1 which is responsible for what many call the cold sore and this will be seen with sores on the lips when it is cold or when someone is stressed or just sick.
2. The HSV2 IgG shows that you had been exposed in the past or recent past to what many refer to as genital herpes. This will present with pimples in the genital area. I am not sure if you had normal results for HSV IgM which would relay that you have an active flare/or active infection of either one. I hope this helps, good luck and thanks.
