Question: please shine some light on the following urine test results.

With your urinalysis I can see that there are blood in your urine but it is not much. Have you done an ultrasound of the kidney urinary bladder ? The ultrasound would detect if there are abnormalities in the urinary system 80-90% of the time.

My suggestion is to observe and if the blood in the urine persists I would recommend a cystoscopy but I don't think it is needed at this time.

What about the combination of blood and mucus threads? What does that mean? In addition, I have blood work results that show elevated ALT at 69. Also alkaline phosphatase is at 116, whish is the XXXXXXX in the normal range.
Do these things point to something or are related in any way?

Blood and mucus threads in the urine has no relationship with each other. Mucus threads is a normal substance in the urine. The alkaline phosphatase and ALT elevation is due to your gall bladder surgery and nothing to be worried about. Let's observe for now and let's see if your signs and symptoms progressed or persists.

What other symptoms would we look for if there is suspect of Bladder Cancer? or Bladder polyps? would CT scans, ultrasounds be enough? or Cystoscopy is the only sure method?

Painless blood in the urine. Ultrasound is the best study.

Thank you for your follow-up question. Ultrasound would be sufficient for screening purposes and if there is a lesion seen on ultrasound then a cystoscopy would be the next step for diagnosis and to get biopsy samples. Ultrasound is a better study to detect bladder masses compared to CT Scan or MRI.

Symptoms of bladder cancer is always blood in the urine whether microscopic or gross blood in the urine. The hallmark for a bladder tumor is gross painless blood in the urine (hematuria). For late stages there would also be weight loss and pelvic pain.

Would there be anything else that would indicate cancer? or just painless blood?
My occult blood is 2+. all other results are normal. i have an appt w/ urologist next week. but i really dont want to do any invasive procedures unless absolutely necessary.

Ultrasound should be done first.

I think the next step would be to do an ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary bladder to look for any abnormalities that may be the cause of the blood in your urine. I don't think he'll do cystoscopy or any other invasive procedure at the onset prior to the ultrasound.

Majority of cancer presents with painless hematuria and no other symptoms.
