Brief Answer:
Cystoscopy at frequent interval is mandatory to rule out recurrence.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have Urothelial Carcinoma and TURBT was done followed by six cycles of intravesical BCG installation

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Do you have any irritative urinary symptoms?
2) Do you have hematuria?
3) What is the stage and grade of bladder cancer reported on histopathological examination ?
4) Was C.T Scan of the abdomen done to trace out any metastatic involvement of the lymph nodes in abdomen ?

Urethelial carcinomas have tendency to recur hence one has to get endoscopic examination of bladder and Urine Cytology done at frequent intervals to rule recurrence of the tumor.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

My Question 1.

I am due for a scope in 6 weeks. If I get scoped in the office, there is no tissue samples taken.
Biopsies are done in a hospital setting.
Should I have a scope with or without biopsies.

You did not really answer my question.
The question was should i have a cysto with or without biopsy 6 weeks after my
BCG/Interferon treatments.

My last question is if the cancer is still present in 6 weeks, what would be the next course of action?

Answered by Dr. Dr. P. T. Patil (10 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Cystoscopy is done 6-8 weeks after completion of BCG therapy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up.

Ideally Cystoscopy is done 6-8 after completion of BCG therapy and decision regarding biopsy is taken by urologist while doing Cystoscopy Biopsy is done only if he finds recurrence of lesion .

If cancer is detected again one has to undergo resection of the tumor (TURBT)
again.

Thanks and Regards.
