What Does The Following Sperm Analysis Report Indicate?
I have had a sperm analysis performed. I do not clearly understand the results as they were explained to me. I understand that i do not produce the "normal" size sample. I do not produce enough sperm. And that many of the soerm are not shaped correctedly.
I am waitng for the resukts of a tubular analysis but i would like to understand the initial results better. The aspects of the analysis that i would like to understand better are:
- Semen volume
- Total sperm number
- Sperm concentration
- Vitality of sperm
- Motility of soerm
- Morphology of sperm
I would also like to understand, based on these results, the probability of being able to impregnant a woman through intercourse.
I have written down the test results at the end of this note.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Joe

Semen analysis explained
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I read your query and I understand your concerns.
Following is the stepwise detailed reply of your semen analysis parameters.
1. Sperm count shoild be more than 15 million per ml. Your count is normal at 37.5 million per ml.
2. Sperm motility is the speed with which sperms move under microscope. They are expected to move fast and reach egg after intercourse. Rapid and slow progressive together should be more than 50 percent. You have 42 percent which is marginally low but enough for achieving pregnancy.
3. Sperm morphology is the normal appearance required for pregnancy. 4 percent is normal. But you have only 2 percent normal meaning there are some defects in your sperms which might make pregnancy difficult.
There are various types of defects like head and neck etc..
4. Sperm vitality is how much they remain motile after wash.
5. Sperm volume ejaculated should be more than 1 ml. You have only 0.7 ml which is low.
6. Considering above report of you it is better to go for IUI or IVF Procedure if planning for pregnancy seriously.
