Question: Hi there.

My girlfriend just broke a bone on her leg this morning. We went to the hospital and they immobilized it with some stuff. They said she shoul stay like this for 3/4 weeks.

I have attached the xray we got.

We live in a house and our living room is at the 1st level. Can she walk down to the toilet? Can she shower? Any special things we should know?

Brief Answer:
Please try to attach the photo once again.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

I can not see the attached x-ray. Can you please make sure you have attached it?
Or at least mention which bone has been broken and how high the cast is? And what kind of cast?
Without this information it is hard to answer your questions.

I`m looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards.

For the moment they used gypsum to make a splinter and then used bandages around it to keep the foot in place.

Brief Answer:
This fracture needs reposition.

Detailed Answer:
Was the fracture somehow repostitioned by a doctor? The bone pieces seem to be a little bit too far from each other so the healing process can be incorrect and for sure will take much longer than few weeks. The bones should be close together.
So I would recommend your girlfriend to consult orthopedist.

She should not walk on the cast, however he may use crutches to walk. The cast can not get wet.

In my opinion it should be repositioned.

Well, in my opinion there is. At least make sure she will get next x-ray in a week or so.
