Posted on Tue, 9 Dec 2014
Question: my chest xray report states that "lung fields do not reveal any significant pulmonary parenchymal lesion".
and it also says
" both costophrenic angles are clear"
"cardiac size is within normal limits"
"soft tissues & bones in view are normal"

i just want to know what does my report says about my lungs as i smoke cigarettes and recently sometimes i started feeling mild pain on my lower right side chest beneath last rib when i breathe in and stops .

Brief Answer:
Normal report.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney.
I understand your concern.
Your Chest Xray is absolutely normal.
Smoking changes takes years to appear in X ray.
I would advise you to quit smoking.
The symptoms you are describing is of Muscular pain or Costrochondritis.
However I would also advise you to get an ECG done to rule out any cardiac issues.
As far as your query is concerned, your Chest Xray is absolutely normal.
If you have any further query please ask me.

Normal.

Welcome back
My dear friend, I just meant that if you got the Xray done to see for the harm that smoking might have caused then I want to bring it to your knowledge that changes start to occur when you smoke but they become appreciatlble on Xray after many years of smoking.
Your Xray is absolutely normal. You have no illness apparent on Chest Xray.
You might have got Xray chest done due to pain in Chest due to muscular spasm that you might be having.
As far as your Xray is concerned, it is absolutely normal :)
If you have any further query please ask me.
Stay Healthy.

Brief Answer:
Attach your report.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
If you really wish, you can go for CT Chest, Pulmonary Function test. However , there is no indication for that.
Stop Smoking immediately.
You can take help of Smoking cessation gums , or patches. Nicotine gums are available in market.
But strong determination is required to stop smoking. These gums can just help in reducing cravings.
As far as WBC Count is concerned, I need to study your report because the reference range mentioned by you is wrong. Please scan it and attach it.
Stay Healthy.
