What Does Soreness On Side Of Hyoid Bone Suggest?
Question: I have had soreness on the left side of my hyoid bone. Now I notice that it feels like there is a growth in that side. Or at least it feels different than the right side. I have had no other symptoms. The left side is slightly tender. Is this normal? Should the hyoid bone he uniform in size

I have gone through your query, it is difficult to comment on this without examination. I'd there a visible external swelling, if there is kindly upload the picture for better assessment.
Does it move with swallowing, hour long it has been like this, do you have side throat.
It might be due to infection of pharynx or larynx. Presently without examination, I would have just asked you for sale water gargling, lozenges and observation for week.
I would suggest you to see ENT specialist for further evaluation.

Thanks for your response. There is no visible swelling. I have noticed this for about two weeks and it does appear to move up and down when swollowing. The only reason i noticed it to begin with was about two/three weeks ago i noticed it was a little sore when i swallowed. Now i do not have a sore throat nor any other signs of being ill. I was previously a smokeless tobacco user.
