What Does Nasty Behaviour After Delivery Indicate?

Question: My nephew and his girlfriend had a baby a month ago. The baby's mother has been cold and even nasty toward my sister (the father's mother), and apparently ONLY my sister.
She is devastated. Can this be a sign of postpartum depression?

If she has been behaving nasty only after delivery and not before that then it can be postpartum depression or post partum psychosis.

Both are different and need different treatment so i would like you to elaborate what exactly you mean by "nasty" .

If it is only after delivery then wait for 2-3 weeks for it to resolve on its own.

Otherwise if it is really distressing then she needs to be shown to a psychiatrist.
