What Does My Semen Analysis Test Report Indicate?

Posted on Wed, 2 Dec 2015
Question: Hi - We are trying to concieve and I have been diagnosed with low sperm count with stark variances in the past seven odd months. The first semen analysis showcased a sperm count of 2.5 million, the second 10 million while in the third it dropped to an abysmal 20,000. My doctor was unable to give a satisfactory explanation for this variance. The doctor also got testosterone levels checked which turned out to be 173 my/Dl. It was barely normal doctor explained and has prescribed the following: Cernos 1% gel, Maxoza L XXXXXXX and Paternia tablet. He has advised for another semen analysis in a month. I am obese and have been a smoker until recently.

I am sceptical on testosterone booster Cernos gel. From what I could read, it's side effects outweigh benefits. Could you advice if I should stay away from Cernos and instead stick to Mexoza and Paternia only? Won't losing weight and quitting smoking eventually turn out to be more affective than supplements like Cernos? Please help.

Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) None of these medicines are very helpful nor guarantee returning sperms to normal.

2) Stop smoking and alcohol immediately and start diet and exercise to lose wieght. This will help you more than any medicines.

Thanks doc. But i believe paternia and maxoza l are still safe and just multivitamins. I hope I can take that wihout worrying too much. I will stop Cernos but do let me know of i could take the other two and for what duration.
