Brief Answer:
Hepatitis B, rise of liver enzymes

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Anti-HBc is readily demonstrable in serum, begin within the first 1–2 weeks after the appearance of HBsAg and preceding detectable levels of anti-HBs by weeks to months. Occasionally a gap of several weeks or longer may separate the disappearance of HBsAg and the appearance of anti-HBs.During this "gap" or "window" period anti-HBc may represent the only serologic evidence of current or recent HBV infection,Generally, in persons who have recovered from hepatitis B, anti-HBs and anti-HBc persist indefinitely.

Since you are negative for both HBsAg & Anti- HBc, you are not having Hepatitis B virus infection.
Since your SGOT& SGPT values are high, your doctor as advised liver imaging either Ultrasonography or CT scan of abdomen as fatty liver can cause steato-hepatitis and cause rise of SGOT & SGPT values.

Brief Answer:
HBV infection,vaccination

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Your wife has to undergo further tests like HBeAg ( a qualitative marker) and HBV DNA (a quantitative marker) to determine active viral replication( replicative stage of HBV infection)or she is just inactive HBV carrier.Treatment will be decided according to the results.

If you(sexual contacts of HBsAg carriers) are not vaccinated ,postexposure prophylaxis with a combination of Hepatitis B Immune Globulin (HBIG) -for rapid achievement of high-titer circulating anti-HBs and hepatitis B vaccine is recommended with three IM (deltoid, not gluteal) injections of hepatitis B vaccine at 0, 1, and 6 months .
You also have to use protective sheath till your vaccine course is completed.

For perinatal exposure of infants born (your child) to HBsAg-positive mothers, a single dose of HBIG, 0.5 mL, should be administered IM in the thigh immediately after birth, followed by a complete course of three injections of recombinant hepatitis B vaccine to be started within the first 12 hours of life.
