What Does My Heart Stress Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 4 Nov 2015
Question: I recently had a heart stress test-- it took 3 hours--and one of the things I learned was that my upper number on teh blood pressure count hovered around 200--is this a reason to be concerned?
A nurse practicioner said that I should be on blood pressure medication and that with what she could see I am in danger of having a stroke. When someone from my doctors office called me she said that from what she could see the results were good and to wait until my next appointment--within two weeks--

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

It's very common for blood pressure to be high (around 200 mm Hg) during stress test. This is a typical reaction during stress in hypertensive patients. For the moment you shouldn't worry and you should wait to have the test results.

However, if you will have the results tomorrow (or Monday) then you may upload those data so I may check the results for you.

Meanwhile, I would recommend the following measures to lower and stabilize your BP:
- reduce salt intake (salty foods)
- reduce alcohol
- increase physical activities

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
