What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?
Question: Got blood work as I have been having joint pain in my fingers. I am 52 with a history of ulcerative colitis for 22 years. First round came back with slightly elevated (137) Alkaline Phos. 2nd round shows the following: Hemoglobin 16.2, Hematocrit 48.3, Lymphs (absolute) 3.7 and Alkaline Phos 137. Liver and Bone fractions were normal but Inestinal Frac showed a 21. Answer please? I am very worried.

ALP for itself isnt saying much about ulcerative colitis progression so to verify the condition of your bowel you should do colonoscopy. Joint pain however, is one of the extraintestinal manifestation of ulcerative colitis and it should be treated by steroids or citotoxic medications. YOu should check your calcium levels, vitamin d, and do bone scintigraphy. Wish you good health. Regards
