What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Oct 2015
Question: I am 45 years old and had routine labs drawn on this past monday. I have a history of hereditary spherocytosis with splenectomy and prophylactic appendectomy in 1975. I underwent a laparoscopic cholecystectomy in 2002. I also have a history of estrogen provoked superficial thrombophleblitis in my right lower extremity and a history of herpes simplex viral Meningoencephalitis in 2005. I was hospitalized in XXXXXXX of this year due to cellulitis from dog bite wounds in my right lower extremity.

I have consulted a hematologist in the past for leukocytosis of unknown origin and a higher than normal platelet count was noted to be due to my asplenia. Based on my lab values, should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
no there is nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

All the current parameters are pretty much OK. I see nothing of concern here.

You have mentioned about higher counts but the uploaded reports do not include a blood count. Was it done this time?

If it was, then you may upload that as well.

Hope this helps.

Brief Answer:
apparently fine

Detailed Answer:
Ok

The white cells and platelets are bit high, probably due to splenectomy. If they have remained stable over time then nothing to worry.
