Question: I had an xray of kidneys done

The only thing that the results state is

"GI tract is superimposed over right kidney"

What does this mean?

Is this dangerous?

First, I'll say, no it is not dangerous.

With a regular plain film of the abdomen xray (ie not CT, MRI, or ultrasound), it is common for the intestines to block some of the visual field of getting a good look at the kidneys. From what the radiologist wrote, he or she likely was not able to see the right kidney well because the digestive tract was in the way.

Depending on what the ordering physician was looking for, he/she may want to get an ultrasound or CT if they really want to see that kidney.
