Brief Answer:
PET Scan suggestive of cancer only.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I have seen your all reports.
PET scan is clearly suggestive of right lung mass with mediastinal lymphnode involvement and also spread in left lung.
But CT guided biopsy is somewhat inconclusive.
Lymphoplasmacytic infiltration means presence of lymphocytes and plasma cells. They are commonly found in inflammation.
This is not matching with the PET scan report, so pathologist recommended repeat biopsy.

In my opinion the features are suggestive of cancer.

Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
PET report and CEA level both are suggestive of cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question.
PET scan report clearly mentioned soft tissue mass in right upper lobe with abutting of superior vena cava. This is the diagnostic feature of malignant mass. Bilateral lung nodules and enlarged mediastinal lymphnodes are also collaborative findings of malignancy.
CEA level is high which again favours malignancy.
Because of these features I think this is malignant lung mass and repeat biopsy is needed for confirmation of cancer.
Without confirm report of biopsy, cancer treatment will not be started. So confirmation with biopsy is needed.
Hope I have solved your query. If you are not having further queries, please close the conversation and rate the answer. Thanks.

Dear Doctor,

Thanks for your input. I have few last questions before I close this thread.

- What are the side effect of Biopsy test.
- Is lungs cancer completely curable? If yes what is the most suggested treatment Chemo, Surgery or medicine?

These are the major concern with the patient.

Brief Answer:
it is not completely curable.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your follow up question.
Side effects of biopsy are
1. Pain at biopsy site.
2. Iatrogenic pneumothorax.
3. Introduction of infection if sterile technique is not used.
4. Rarely track malignancy (spread of tumour in the needle track)
All above complications are not routinely seen. All are very rare.

And if cancer is proven, then staging of cancer should be performed. In presence of metastatic nodules in the opposite lung is stage 4 cancer. Stage 4 lung cancer is inoperable ,only chemotherapy and radiotherapy is indicated.
And lung cancer is incurable.

Hope I have solved your query.
