Brief Answer:
Disease modifying treatment with interferons is the best.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and would try my best to help you.

I have seen the reports of Mr XXXXXXX The MRI report is suggestive of multiple sclerosis. For this, we need to start treatment to prevent worsening in future. The best treatment is interferon injections. Options are once weekly Avonex or thrice weekly Rebif injections.

I sincerely hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

Brief Answer:
These injections are required long-term

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

The interferon injections are required long-term. I usually give them for at least two years. If the patient is well, then, tablets can be given after two years.

Interferon injections are safe and the side effects are rare and mild such as fever.

Best wishes,

Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
