What Does My MRI Scan Report Indicate?

Posted on Fri, 18 Mar 2016
Question: Good morning
I received a MRI without contrast result today. I was told to bring it to my dr appointment in 2 weeks. I read the report and I can't wait to ask if the findings are conclusive with MS I was hoping to ease my mind on this site.
The reports states " there are two subtle non specific t2 foci in the white matter each measuring 2 mm in diameter including the white matter left frontal lobe anteriorly and a focus subinsular white matter on the left. Also "there is slight mucosal thickening involving the left maxillary and ethmoid air cells" are those lesions?

Brief Answer:
Non specific mri findings , need clinical details

Detailed Answer:
Hello xxxxxxxxx,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
All MRI lesions are not suggestive of multiple sclerosis and depends upon location and symptoms to diagnose MS.
These changes are non specific and can be seen in hypertension, diabetes, migraine and age related.
Is there any history of neurological deficit, visual loss or previous attacks of multiple sclerosis?
What was the indication for imaging?
Do not worry and wait to consult your treating doctor.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Get investigated as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Coley,

In view of vitamin B12 and vitamin d deficiency possibility of vitamin deficiency induced brain changes may be present.

Other possibility of multiple sclerosis can not be ruled out completely in view of family history.

You need to get evaluated for MS. CSF oligoclonal bands, VEP and spine MRI may be required.

You need to take vitaminB 12 and Vitamin D supplementation with calcium.

For stress and anxiety you can take amitriptyline, sertraline or clonazepam.

Complete workup is required to arrive at a diagnosis.

Hope you recover soon.

Do get back to me for further queries.
