What Does My EKG Test Result Indicate?

Posted on Mon, 12 Sep 2016
Question: My 7 year old son had an abnormal EKG when he was 7. He is 12 now and seems fine. For some reason I didn't follow up on this. It seems like the physician wasn't concerned about it. The report says "very marked right-precordial replarizaion disturbance, consider juvenile patter very larg negative T in V3 with large negative T in V2. What does this mean.

Brief Answer:
Please upload the reports.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.

I have gone through the details provided. However, the details are not enough to arrive at a diagnosis. I would request you to upload the EKG and/or its report. It will enable me to evaluate the situation. I would guide you accordingly thereafter.

I would await your response.

The report is all I have. (Attached) I recall him reporting intermittent strapping chest pain, but the doctor didn't appear concerned and thought it was heart burn. I'm just not sure what the abnormal EKG was all about and if the doctor missed this.

Brief Answer:
Not a cause for concern.

I have checked the EKG. Although there are variations, they are actually to be considered normal in case of a child. There is T wave invertion which could seem concerning. But it is a normal variation in children. You can check:

The chest pain does not seem concerning and is likely to be due to heartburn as correctly pointed out by your doctor.

In case you want a further follow up, I do not think that you need a repeat EKG. Rather, getting an echocardiogram should be more helpful.

Let me know if I could help further.
