What Does My EKG Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 25 Oct 2017
Question: I am a 67 year old female. I have had three EKG's recently and all showed an inferior infarc. Subsequently I had an echo stress test which showed normal blood flow and no abnormalities. Why am I getting these abnormal EKG's? Could the original infarc result from a blockage that fixed itself and thus the abnormal EKGs but normal stress test?

Brief Answer:
Stress echo is about 90% sensitive.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for posting query.
Stress echo iscalmost 85-90% sensitive to rule out myocardial infarction possibility.
Onnthe other hand EKG is a basic test of cardiology and has no significance if stress echo is normal.

In lay mans language if EKG is a world war 1 fighter craft then stress echo is a 2016 version of that fighter craft.
This was just an example.

Your heart is fine.
Forget about those ecg reports.
They have no significance if stress echo is normal.

Regards!
