Question: Hi,
If you have an abdomen CT scan with contrast do they scan you twice, once with the contrast and once without to compare or just the one scan?
Also with regard to the concern about radiation - I had two abdomen and chest CT scans in the past couple of years. I know its a controversial topic, but should I be worried about future risk of cancer in your opinion?

It is right that CT scan radiation may increase risk of cancer but now a days,CT scan machine uses spiral technology and it covers our body in very less time as compared to older machines.
Generally spiral CT scan delivers very less radiation dose to patient and it is far below the maximum allowable safe dose.
Don't worry about two abdomen and one chest CT scan,combined radiation dose due to three CT scan is far below the maximum allowable safe dose.
I don't think there is any need to be worried about cancer due to three CT scan.

There is no need to select it separately,it is inbuilt software in CT scan machine.
