What Does Mild Bilateral Bronchiectasis Indicate While On Acapella Vibratory?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Oct 2017
Question: I have mild (at least that is what the CT said) bilateral bronchiectasis. i used the Acapella Vibratory for the first time Monday night and I slept well, and was not awoken choking on mucus. Last night I used the Acapella in the same manner, but I was awoken by the mucus. In addition, I had night sweats and a mild headache. Right now (mid morning) I do feel better with a sight lingering headache. Does this sound like an infection?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of infection is likely.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Worsening of mucus expectoration, sweating and headache are more suggestive of infection.
Bronchiectesis patients are more prone for lung infection.
It is good that you are able to remove mucus by cough out.
You can also take N acetyl cystine (NAC) 600mg twice daily.
This will also help you.
Short course of azithromycin 500mg once a day is also beneficial.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
