Question: Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

Guess you know my history. Went for a Embryo tranfer yesterday. So when we reached there they said the embryo is still growing to the blastocyst stage, so come today. Today when we went the embroyos have stopped growing & no blastocyst All my embroyos. :( So I need to go through the entire trauma again (Egg retrieval etc). anything that could have triggered this? Till 8 Cells they were growing.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Failed culture

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

It is unfortunate to know that embryos have got arrested on day 3 and did not develop further.

This happens generally when the culture conditions in IVF laboratory are not good or the embryos have chromosomal defect.

In this case you will have to undergo whole IVF procedure again.

Let me know which IVF centre you got the IVF done. Name of centre, doctor and city. It will help me to find out more details about laboratory.

Let me know if you have anymore queries.

Hi Doc,

We don't have our reports. The IVF centre has all of them. But does that mean all the 9 embryos not survive?

Thanks & regards,

Brief Answer:
Change IVF Centre

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If the embryos are arrested on day 3 then it is not possible to have them survive on day 4 or 5 as they would not grow even transferred.

I think you should change IVF centre as there seems to be IVF laboratory problem.

Hi Doc,

From what I understand the embryos were growing even today. However, none of them had reached the blastocyst stage yet.

The doctors seems to have found that suspicious and hence called off the ET.
For the next cycle they have planned the use of fresh embroyos (without freezing).

Brief Answer:
Wrong treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

There should be strong reason why embryos dont grow. The doctor should explain it. Transperancy is important.

The centre should give IVF summary and all your reports if they are doing correct treatment.

I think you should change IVF centre immediately as treatment done is not satisfactory.
